Charles became homeless after his wife divorced him at age 53. A high school dropout, he worked strenuous labor most of his life and sustained back injuries, disabling, and causing him immense pain. Eventually, he became addicted to prescribed medication. His education was a barrier; he never learned to manage his finances and remained homeless. Learning about APTS, Charles reached out for help; weary and tired, he made the courageous decision to enter a long-term sober living environment where he has successfully remained for six months and is doing well. Through comprehensive assessment, APTS was able to determine Charles’s needs and connect him to the right resources to obtain food, shelter, and programming, ensuring his success in sober living.
